Poem by Viviain J. Lundahl.
DANGEROUS
Do you find yourself yearning for times long ago,
When politics wasn’t just a reality show?
Have you stopped to check if the facts hold true,
Are they roasting your geese and eating Miss Mew?
You’ll swallow their lies if you never seek proof,
Friends, don’t be duped— please insist on the truth.
Divide and conquer is the game that they play,
Threatening the heroes who stand in their way.
It’s painful to watch, it’s deeply unfair,
When bad becomes good, and stench spoils our air.
The stories they’re spewing are ugly and trite,
As the noose round our necks grows awfully tight.
What happened to kindness, to going that mile,
To helping a neighbor, to sharing a smile?
Should not those who claim to be pure and wise,
Lead by example, not by thin disguise?
Blind hatred’s the trump card they throw with a grin,
And lies are their daggers, sharper than sin.
If you want to know who’s the smallest of all,
Just see who builds bridges, and who wants a wall.
Don’t shut your eyes, we’ve seen all this before—
When evil takes hold, justice flies out the door.
We’re worn out by the circus, it’s long overdue
To fire the clown no one sane would pursue.
You must not just listen, but hear and feel,
Let love conquer hate, let hope help us heal.
It’s time to disarm, to put down your gun,
And race toward a future, where peace is won.
Though it’s perfectly fine to disagree
Let’s not end up on the dark side of history.
We must put an end to these dangerous games
Lest our dreams and our country go up in flames.
