Mass immigration is hyped to Canadians as essential for the economy, but there are downsides that the growth promoters and anti-hate groups don’t want us to discuss. Dale Branscombe thinks it’s time to talk about these downsides and let Canadians have a say in shaping immigration policies
The vast majority of Canadians are in favor of legal, limited, and controlled immigration. They welcome anyone who wants to work hard, assimilate, and get along. They are not, however, OK with being called “un-Canadian” the moment they question the government’s misguided immigration policies. They are not OK with being called racists when they point out that illegal migrants (15 – 20,000 per year) are not refugees if they are coming from New York State. It is not racist to want to protect one’s borders. Nor is it hateful, bigoted, or “xenophobic” to expect new citizens to embrace the values of their new home – one of democracy, rule of law and equality for all.
It is normal and natural to feel compassion for others, but it is wildly irresponsible to invite the whole world. There is a limitless supply of poverty.
The principal agent pushing the myth of mass migration is big business. The claim that the economy requires migration is based on the assumption that more people are needed to fill the workforce. Yet considering the failure of the education system to prepare young people for the real world, we clearly have no need for more unskilled workers. Giant corporations want cheap labour; an overabundance of unskilled labour drives wages down.
Mass migration is economically unsustainable. It creates housing shortages and puts additional strain on social programs as well on the already overburdened health and education systems. Language training and skills training, along with all the necessities (food, clothing, etc.) in the case of refugee claimants, are long-term investments with few guarantees of an economic return. One thing that is guaranteed as a result of mass migration is an increase in taxes – the hidden cost of all that cheap labour.
The economy was pummeled during the government-imposed lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, as many people were prevented from going to work. Waitresses and truck drivers do not work from home. Despite the rise in unemployment and inflation, along with a growing list of shortages in the supply chain, refugee claimants (whose countries of origin and route to Canada suggest they are economic migrants bypassing legal avenues) are still being ushered in, in significant numbers and semi-secrecy. The government is also raising legal immigration to record levels, with a target of 450,000 per year.

According to UN estimates, by the end of this century, the population of Africa will exceed four billion! Europe receives untold numbers daily. The futility of trying to reduce poverty through migration is illustrated brilliantly in Roy Beck’s six-minute video from 2010, World Poverty, Immigration and Gumballs.

In 2018, Canada signed the UN Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration – a document that declares migration to be a “Human Right.” In essence, this means that anyone, at any time, may move to wherever they please and be granted all the benefits of citizenry immediately upon arrival. Calling migration a “human right” is synonymous with the utopian fantasy of a “world without borders.” As Anne Marie Waters has observed, “If anyone can enter a country and have the same rights as its citizens, then citizenship becomes obsolete.”
Canada’s immigration rate is among the highest in the world. Canada could soon find itself on the same path as Europe, a perfect example of how things could go wrong when millions of people are imported from cultures that are incompatible with western democratic values and standards: the unprecedented increase in violence and crime, including knife attacks, truck attacks, acid attacks, explosions and car bombings, intimidation of female teachers and nurses, violence against gays and Jews, and the relentless assault on democratic rights and freedoms. Hundreds of churches and synagogues have been vandalized or torched throughout Europe and social programs and health care systems are stretched to near collapse.

In such areas, Sharia law invariably replaces that of the host country. Police are intimidated to enter and are resigned to ignore the rapes, assaults, and honour killings. Jews are leaving Europe en masse because of the culture of hatred it has imported through mass migration.
Europe has been transformed to the point where it will be unrecognizable in a matter of decades. Females have suffered the most. They no longer feel safe on public transportation and at public swimming pools. Even public walking trails and parks are no longer safe. In the UK, “grooming gangs,” a euphemism for rape-gangs, comprised almost entirely of Muslim men, have destroyed the lives of untold thousands of young girls. This inconceivable horror continues to this day while the political elites do nothing for fear of being labeled – you guessed it – “racist.” Douglas Murray describes the suicide of Europe through the actions of its leaders in his book, The Strange Death of Europe.

Yet Canadians were never consulted about the mass immigration policy that they are expected to accommodate and pay for. There is no real public debate on immigration – there is propaganda and boosterism by both government and mainstream media. Citizens who express concerns about the social, economic, political, or environmental impacts of Canada’s mass immigration policies are scolded, marginalized and demonized.

When newcomers arrive in small numbers they learn to adapt, integrate, and assimilate. At a certain volume, however, new citizens become less incentivized to assimilate into mainstream culture. One predictable result of mass migration, as evidenced throughout Europe, is the immergence of self-segregating communities that exist as parallel societies. Such communities become less diverse and more ethnically uniform. Similarly, voting patterns in such monocultures are determined primarily by identity politics and their constituencies are represented accordingly.
And no, it is not true that “we are all immigrants.” Those who arrived after the indigenous peoples were pioneers, explorers, farmers, fishermen, and tradesmen. They did not arrive with expectations of new cell phones and access to El Jazeera TV. They were not provided with all the amenities and conveniences of modern western society and did not have access to welfare.
But this is not about race or culture or ethnicity; hijabs and turbans are simply a distraction. It is about the unprecedented notion that a host country should be expected to fundamentally change to accommodate the newcomer. It is about our rights and freedoms, our institutions and laws being used against us in an effort to appease those who would work to destroy those same rights. It is about preserving our greatest cultural inheritance – freedom.
Is it so difficult to comprehend that some who come here will discover that they feel only contempt for the core values of our culture, with its individual liberties and rights that make all citizens, including women, equal in the eyes of the law? That second and third generations of immigrant families do not share the same experiences as their parents or grandparents and may become alienated or marginalized or even radicalized, being influenced by religious or community leaders – as we have already seen happen.
Can we, at least, stop pretending that everyone who walks across the border instantaneously embraces a belief system compatible with a modern, free, and open society? Not everyone from Somalia believes in gender equality. Not all Afghanis want a secular education for their daughter. Not all Sudanese or Syrians or Iraqis adhere to the concept of “separation of church and state” or, more accurately, “mosque and state.”
And some will work to destroy the foundational pillars of this country. Iqra Khalid, whose family originated from Pakistan, introduced Motion M-103 in the Canadian Parliament, a motion designed to restrict the right of a free citizen in a free country to criticize religious dogma. The motion was passed in March 2017.
A nation needs borders and laws and a citizenry prepared to uphold the standards that make it a place worth living in. It is easier to ignore the long-term threat that mass migration poses than it is to retrieve security once it is lost. It may soon be time to say goodbye to Europe. If mass migration were such a good idea, its benefits would be obvious; it would not need to be continually plugged and promoted by the propaganda machine. And if all cultures were equal, we would not see the one-way human tsunami headed west.
Those who choose to live in denial of the real-world dangers of mass migration often have no difficulty believing that we are surrounded by racists, bigots, and fascists. They paint everyone they disagree with as another Hitler. And even though the oh-so-hateful “anti-hate” groups, out to quell any sign of national pride or love of country, would have us believe otherwise, there are no neo-Nazi organizations in this country. There are no “White supremacist” organizations, no anti-Asian, anti-Hindu, anti-Sikh, anti-Muslim or anti-immigrant organizations. To advocate for rational immigration policies and the protection of our values and Charter rights is not anti-anyone.

There is however, a large, well-funded entity that seems intent on keeping us at each other’s throats in an endless hate-fest of self-loathing and lies. That would be the mainstream media, which is generously supported by another publicly funded megalithic organization that never tires of reminding us of the virtues of self-sacrifice and collective guilt. That would be the government, whose first duty should theoretically be to attend to the safety and security of its citizens, but which seems more committed to accommodating anyone and everyone who wants to stroll in – as at the Quebec-New York border, where tens of thousands have arrived and continue to arrive by Roxham Road. This despite Canada supposedly being in the midst of a pandemic so dangerous that the government imposed lockdowns that threw the economy on the rocks and drove inflation through the roof!
Canadians are expected to not notice that left-leaning political parties continually push for higher immigration numbers and are invariably rewarded by those numbers which translate into votes that place them back into office where they can repeat the process. Nowhere, other than in a nation on a mission to self-destruct, is an open-borders, mass migration policy promoted as a legitimate goal. It seems that Prime Minister Trudeau is creating a self-fulfilling prophecy in bringing about a Canada with no core identity (as he told the New York Times), no common heritage, and no common allegiances. This diversity will not be our strength but will turn our nation into a collection of mutually distrustful villages.
Canada has one of the most unbiased, ethnically diverse, tolerant, and equal opportunity social systems on the planet, yet we are being bullied into believing that we are bigoted and racist. Why? Is there an agenda we are not being told about?
