“The Left needs to re-root itself in humanism.” This was the conclusion of Gregory Biniowsky, a life-long Leftist after he returned from a 30 year sojourn in Cuba. While there, he had been a professor at the University of Havana, an actor on Cuban television, a legal consultant to international law firms, the director of an aide agency combating hurricane damage, and a restaurateur specializing in Russian and Ukrainian cuisine. In this interview with Canadian Humanist Publications and New Enlightenment Project board member Lloyd Hawkeye Robertson, Biniowsky talks about Cuba and the state of North American politics he encountered on his return to Canada.
